One of the powerful features on SharePoint On-Premise is timer jobs which is missing in Office 365. I just worked with a vendor who has requirement to get certain reports Monday every week and I implemented a small console app that was sitting in windows scheduled tasks generating required reports automatically in local and automatically uploading it to a document library in SharePoint site collection!
